1783 Sindoor Utsav

Sindoor Utsav is a famous event during Durga Puja especially in West Bengal. On the day of Bengal Vijayadashami idols of Durga are immersed which culminates Durga Puja festivities. In the evening married women applies vermillion, famously known as Sindoor, to each other. After that Bijoya greetings and sweets are exchanged.

Even men embrace each other and this gesture of exchanging greetings is known as Kolakuli.
