On the tenth day, known as Vijayadashami, the traditional Dasara procession is held on the streets of Mysore. An image of the Goddess Chamundeshwari is placed on a golden howdah on the back of a decorated elephant and taken on a procession, accompanied by tableaux, dance groups, music bands, decorated elephants, horses and camels. The five kilometers long procession starts from Mysore Palace and culminates at a place called Bannimantapa, where the Banni/Shami tree is worshipped. The grand and famous elephant parade is locally known as Jumbo Savari.

the ninth day of Dasara festivities
On the day of Vijayadashami, Lord Shri Rama killed Demon Ravana and Goddess Durga killed the buffalo demon Mahishasura. Therefore, this day is celebrated as the victory of Dharma over Adharma. On the occasion of Vijayadashami, rituals like Shami Puja, Aparajita Puja, Simollanghana etc. are performed.
Vijayadashami according to Bengal rule
Since ancient times, Ayudha Puja is performed on the occasion of Mahanavami of Maha Navratri. According to religious beliefs, on this day Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura after a fierce nine-day war. In South India, this festival is also celebrated as Saraswati Puja.
