Deepavali - In Tamil Nadu, Deepavali is observed when Chaturdashi Tithi prevails during Brahma Muhurat i.e. just before sunrise.
Kedar Gauri Vrat - Kedar Gauri Vrat is mainly observed in Southern Indian states especially in Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Kedara Vratham.
Karthigai Deepam - The day when Karthigai Nakshatra coincides with Pournami in Tamil month Karthikai (Vrischika Rashi) is known as Karthigai Deepam. Karthigai Deepam is also called Karthikai Deepam. This festival is mainly celebrated by Tamil Hindus.
Soorasamharam - Soorasamharam is the final and the most important event of the six days Kanda Sashti festivities for Tamil Hindus. It is believed, on the day of Soorasamharam, Lord Murugan defeated the demon named Surapadman in the battle.
Panguni Uthiram - Panguni Uthiram is an important day for Tamil Hindus. It is observed in Panguni month when Nakshatra Uthiram or Uttara Phalguni prevails.
Vaikuntha Ekadashi - It is believed that Vaikuntha Dwaram is opened on this day and devotees who observe fast on Vaikuntha Ekadashi attain salvation. This is a popular Ekadashi in Tamil calendar. Vaikuntha Ekadashi is also known as Mukkoti Ekadashi.
Vaikasi Visakam - Vaikasi Visakam is celebrated as birthday of Lord Murugan. It is celebrated during Visakam Nakshatra in the Tamil month Vaikasi.
Thai Pusam - Thaipusam or Thai Poosam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community. It falls in the Tamil Solar month of Thai. On this day, Goddess Parvati is believed to have given Lord Murugan a divine spear to defeat the demon Surapadman.
Karadaiyan Nombu - Karadaiyan Nombu or Karadayan Nonbu is a major Tamil festival which is celebrated at the time on Meena Sankranti. In Tamil calendar, Meena Sankranti is known as Meena Sankramana.
Masi Magam - Masi Magam, also known as Maasi Makam, is a Tamil Hindu festival which is celebrated by Tamil speaking people.
Hanumath Jayanthi - Hanumath Jayanthi is observed during Margashirsha Amavasya and falls in January or December. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated as Hanumath Jayanti in Tamil Nadu. It is believed, Lord Hanuman was born on this day during Moola Nakshatra.
Arudra Darshan - Arudra Darshan is a Tamil festival dedicated to Lord Shiva which is observed during Margashirsha Amavasya and falls in January or December. On this day, Lord Shiva's Nataraja form is worshipped during Arunodaya. This day is also celebrated as the Birth Anniversary of Lord Shiva.
Avani Avittam - On Yajurveda Upakarma, Brahmins ritually change their Upanayana thread along with Shrauta rituals. People who follow Yajurveda perform Upkarma on the occasion of Shravana Purnima. The next day of Upkarma is called Gayatri Japam Day.
Chitra Pournami - The full moon day of Chithirai month in Tamil Calendar is celebrated as Chitra Pournami. This festival is dedicated to Lord Chitragupta. According to religious scriptures, Lord Chitragupta keeps the record of the deeds of all beings of the universe.
