Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura (1874-1937) born in 1874 in Puri, Odisha in a Bengali Hindu Kayastha family as a son of Kedarnath Datta Bhaktivinoda Thakur, a recognised Bengali Gaudiya Vaishnava philosopher and teacher. His birth name was Bimla Prasad Datt. He was a Gaudiya Vaishnava Hindu Guru (spiritual master), Acharya (philosophy instructor) and revivalist in early 20th century eastern India.
In his childhood he quickly mastered the Vedas, memorized the Bhagavad-Gita, and relished his father's philosophical works. He became known as The Living Encyclopedia for his vast knowledge.
