Shrila Jiva Goswami (1513-1598 C.E.) was born in Ramakeli in the district of Maldah, West Bengal as the son of Srivallabha Mallika. He was the nephew of Rupa Goswami and Sanatana Goswami. He received initiation from Rupa Goswami and became the Acharya (spiritual master) after Rupa and Sanatana's disappearance.
Jiva Goswami was also the most prolific writer. He wrote some twenty-five books, including the Sat-Sandarbha, Gopala-Champu, and Hari-Namamrita-Vyakaranam.
