Shri Ramanujacharya (1017-1137 C.E.) was Indian theologian, philosopher and one of the most important exponents of the Shri Vaishnavism tradition within Hinduism.
His parents were Asuri Keshava and Kantimati, both from aristocratic families. He was born in 11th century in the village of Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu in 1017 CE. Sri Ramanuja's birth name was Lakshmana and also referred to as Ilaya Perumal which means the radiant one. At the age of 16 he was married to Rakshakambal.
Ramanuja's philosophical foundation was qualified monism, and is called Vishishtadvaita in the Hindu tradition.
Some of Ramanuja's literary contributions are Vedartha-Sangraha, Shri Bhasya, Gita-Bhasya, Vedanta-Dipa, Vedanta-Sara, Saranagati-Gadya and Shri Ranga-Gadya, Shri Vaikuntha-Gadya, Nitya-Grantha.
