9996 Ashadha Purnima

All the Purnima Tithi(s) are considered extremely auspicious among Hindus. As per the Hindu lunar calendar, Ashadha Purnima is the fourth Purnima of the year. This day is also celebrated as Guru Purnima. On the occasion of Guru Purnima, people worship their Guru ritually.

All Purnima days have something special to celebrate for. On Ashadha Purnima, the birth anniversary of Maharishi Vedavyasa is also celebrated, which is also called Vyasa Puja or Vyas Purnima. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Maharishi Vedavyasa Ji.

People worship Lord Satyanarayana, an extremely benevolent form of Lord Vishnu, and observe Satyanarayana fasting on Purnima day.

Many communities observe one day fast on Purnima Tithi according to their Kula Parampara. Kula Paramparas are family traditions passed from generation to generation.

On the occasion of Ashadha Purnima, the Kokila Vrat, which gives sons, good fortune and prosperity to women, begins. Kokila Vrat is observed from Ashadha Purnima to Shravan Purnima.
