According to the Amanta Hindu calendar, Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of Phalguna month (Purnimanta Chaitra month) is described as Bhalachandra Sankashti. According to Hindu religious texts, fasting on Bhalachandra Sankashti Chaturthi is a surefire solution to overcome serious problems in life. This fast is observed for 4 years or 13 years, after this period one should do Udyapna. To observe this fast, Chandradayavyapini Chaturthi date is selected. If there are two days of Moonrise Vyapini Chaturthi, then the first day should be chosen for fasting.
There are two Chaturthi in every lunar month in Hindu calendar. The Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha that comes after the full moon is called Sankashti Chaturthi and the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha that comes after the new moon is called Vinayak Chaturthi.
First of all, take bath in the morning and get clean after retiring from other activities. After that, while meditating on Lord Ganesha, take a pledge to observe fast and remain silent.
