  • Auspicious Muhurat
    Auspicious - very good to perform the activity.
  • Inauspicious - not good to perform the activity.
  • Mixed Muhurat
    Mixed - good intervals but has some dosha due to which it should be used with cautious in case of urgency.

Jala Puja is an important ritual for the well-being of new-born baby and mother both. Traditionally Kuan i.e. well was the primary source of drinking water in cities as well as in villages. Hence, Jala Puja is popularly known as Kuan Puja. In fact, rituals of Kuan Puja can be performed with in a big pitcher, on river, water tanks and with the help of water tap also.

Following Muhurta conditions should prevail at the time of Kuan Puja -

Lunar Months: Except Chaitra and Pausha lunar months, all lunar months are considered good for Kuan Puja rituals.

Nakshatra: Mrigashira (5), Punarvasu (7), Pushya (8), Hasta (13), Anuradha (17), Mula (19) and Shravana (22) are considered good for Kuan Puja Sanskara.

Tithi: All Tithi, except Rikta Tithi i.e. Chaturthi (4), Navami (9) and Chaturdashi (14) of Shukla and Krishna Paksha both, are considered good for Kuan Puja.

Days: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are considered good for Kuan Puja.

Prohibited: The Asta period i.e. combustion of Brihaspati and Shukra should be avoided. Leaped and skipped lunar months should also be avoided for Kuan Puja or Jala Puja.
