Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964 C.E.) was the first Prime Minister of Independent India. He was born on November 14, 1889 in Allahabad (currently Prayagraj), India. His father, Motilal Nehru, was a well-known eminent lawyer who belonged to Kashmiri Pundit's community. In 1916, Nehru married to Kamala Kaul. His only daughter Indira was born a year later in the 1917.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru is also known for his affection for Children. Hence his birth date i.e. November 14 is celebrated as Children's Day. Children's Day is also known as Bal Divas.
