1792 Ekadanta Sankashti Chaturthi

According to the Amanta Hindu calendar, Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of Vaishakha month (Purnimanta Jyeshtha month) is celebrated as day of Ekadanta Sankashti. On this day, Ekadanta form of Lord Ganesha is worshipped. Lord Ekadanta is considered to be one of the Ashtavinayaka forms of Ganesha. Ekadanta Ganesha literally means - Ganesha with one tooth. According to Hindu scriptures, once when Ganesha stopped Lord Parashurama from meeting Lord Shiva, Lord Parashurama hit Ganesha with His axe, due to which one of His teeth broke and He became famous as Ekadanta.

According to the Ashtavinayaka origin story described in Mudgalpurana, Lord Ganesha appeared in the form of Ekadanta to protect the gods from the atrocities of a demon named Madasura. Fearing Lord Ekadanta, Madasura accepted his defeat and went to Patala Loka forever.
