1763 Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi

According to the Amanta Hindu calendar, Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of Shravana month (Purnimanta Bhadrapada month) is celebrated as day of Heramba Sankashti. On the day of Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi, Heramba Ganapati form, one of the 32 forms of Lord Ganesha, is worshipped. Lord Heramba is depicted with five heads and ten arms. Lord Heramba mounts on a Lion. According to Brahmavaivarta Purana, 'He' means helpless or weak and 'Ramba' means to protect. Hence, Heramb means 'Protector of the helpless and the weak'.

Worship of Heramba Ganapati has been suggested by scholars to overcome difficult problems. Damayanti had observed this fast on the instructions of Maharishi Sharabhanga to get King Nala back after separation. As a result of this fast, she was reunited with King Nala. Lord Heramba is also considered very important by the followers of Tantra Marga.
