According to the Purnimanta Hindu Panchang, Vindhyavasini Jayanti is celebrated on the Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi of the Bhadrapada month. In the Amanta Panchang, this Tithi falls during the Krishna Paksha of the Shravana month. Vindhyavasini Jayanti is a festival dedicated to Goddess Vindhyavasini, one of the most revered and widely worshipped Goddess in Hinduism. She is the Adi Mahashakti and is also worshipped as one of the Dwadasha Siddhividya Goddesses. Various scriptures describe the twelve distinct manifestations of the Adi Shakti as the Dwadasha Siddhividya Goddesses.
According to sacred traditions, the Goddess eternally resides in the Vindhyachal Mountains, and hence She is known as Vindhyavasini. Worshipping the Goddess removes all forms of disease, grief, sorrow and difficulties from one's life. In the Virata Parva of the Mahabharata, Dharmaraja Yudhishthira praises the Goddess, saying -

Vindhyechaivanaga-shreshthe Tavasthananhi Shashvatam।
Meaning - "O Mother! You eternally dwell upon the most exalted of mountains, the Vindhyachal."
According to the tenth Skandha of the Shrimad Devi Bhagavata Purana, at the beginning of creation, Lord Brahma manifested Svayambhuva Manu and Shatarupa from His mind. After their marriage, Svayambhuva Manu crafted an idol of the Goddess with his own hands and performed intense austerities for one hundred years. Pleased by his penance, the Divine Mother appeared before him and blessed him with an obstacle-free kingdom, the expansion of his lineage, and the attainment of the supreme abode. After granting these boons, Mahadevi took residence upon the Vindhyachal Mountain.
This narration establishes that the worship of Goddess Vindhyavasini has been performed since the very beginning of creation. It is through Her divine grace that this entire animated and inanimate universe continues to exist and flourish.
