Hours which are past midnight are suffixed with next day date. In Panchang day starts and ends with sunrise.
Panchang is like time in Vedic Astrology. In Modern age people use Calendar and Clock to keep time but followers of Hinduism use Panchang for time keeping. Panchang tells not only Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise and Moonset but also auspicious and inauspicious times in a day.
In other words, Panchang is a Vedic clock, which is valid only for the geo location for which it has been built. Hence, Panchang is created for each city in the world separately.
The number of core elements in Panchang are five, namely Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Var i.e. weekday. With the help of these five elements and combining them with additional elements e.g. Lagna, Sunrise, Sunset, Moonrise, duration of day and night, zodiac positions of Chandra and Surya, multiple auspicious and inauspicious Yogas are formed.
Some Yoga which doesn't occur daily but randomly on any day are also included in Panchang. Drik Panchang includes Bhadra, Panchaka, Ganda Mula, Vinchhudo, Dwipushkar Yoga, Tripushkar Yoga, Ravi Pushya Yoga, Guru Pushya Yoga, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Amrit Siddhi Yoga, Ravi Yoga, Jwalamukhi Yoga, Aadal Yoga and Vidaal Yoga, which is collection of important auspicious and inauspicious Yoga in Dainika Panchang which occurs randomly on any day.

A detailed description of location based Panchang Dina Shuddhi is given. Panchang is used to know the daily auspicious and inauspicious Muhurat. The correct representation of Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karana is called Panchang Shuddhi.

Location based Rahu Kalam is given for each day. It is an inauspicious time window which lasts approximately for one and half hour every day. No new and auspicious work should be started during Rahu Kalam like marriage, housewarming etc.
The days of Abhijit Nakshatra occurring throughout the year are listed. Abhijit is the 28th Nakshatra in Vedic astrology. This Nakshatra is considered extremely favourable for various auspicious events and starting new work.
The special Yoga created by the transit of the Chandra in Kumbha and Meena Rashi with the Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati Nakshtra is called Panchak. The inauspicious period of 5 days of Panchak is prohibited for auspicious works.
The Beginning and End of Bhadra is given for each month of the year. Bhadra is also known as Vishti Karana. During Bhadra, all kind of auspicious activities like Mundan, Marriage, Housewarming, Pilgrimage and starting a New Business, etc are forbidden.
Ganda Mool Nakshatra dates and time is listed for the entire year. According to Vedic astrology, Ashwini, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula and Revati Nakshatras are known as Ganda Mool Nakshatras. Babies born in these Nakshatras have a special influence on the lives of their family members.
