According to the Dharma Sindhu, when Ekadashi overlaps with Dwadashi on the previous day and Shravana Nakshatra continues on both days, the rare Vishnushrinkhala Yoga is formed. In this case, one should observe the fast during the Purvavidha period, when Ekadashi, Dwadashi and Shravana Nakshatra coincide. Even if Ekadashi does not fall under Shravana Nakshatra, the mere touch of Dwadashi with Shravana Nakshatra is sufficient to form Vishnushrinkhala Yoga.
In simple terms, when Ekadashi Tithi, Dwadashi Tithi and Shravana Nakshatra coincide between sunrise and Ratri Pratham Prahar, it is known as Vishnushrinkhala Yoga. This conjunction is considered extremely rare and highly meritorious. On this day, both Ekadashi and Shravana Dwadashi fasts should be observed together, beginning the fast on Ekadashi and performing Parana, i.e., breaking the fast on Dwadashi in the prescribed manner.
Purushartha Chintamani states that this auspicious yoga should be observed during the daytime only, not at night. However, Nirnaya Sindhu mentions that it may also be accepted after midnight. Some scholars believe that if Shravana Nakshatra is present during both Ekadashi and Dwadashi up to the first quarter of the night, Yoga may be considered valid, but not thereafter.
The scriptures don't clearly specify whether this fast occurs in the Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha. Therefore, Drik Panchang lists Vishnushrinkhala Yoga Dwadashi for both Paksha.
