Among the 32 forms of Lord Ganesha described in sacred texts such as the Mudgala Purana, Ganesha Purana and Tattvanidhi, the fifth form is known as Shakti Ganapati. This form of Lord Ganesha is especially popular among practitioners of the Tantric path. Practitioners of the Tantric path, worship this form of Lord Ganesha to gain control over their senses and emotions.

In this form, Lord Ganapati is depicted seated together with His Shakti. His Shakti is depicted in manifest form, seated on His thigh and embraced by Him. For this reason, this extraordinary form of Lord Ganesha is known as Shakti Ganapati. This form inspires all beings to awaken their own inner power and represents the principle of love.
Many devotees also worship Lord Shakti Ganapati for a harmonious marital and household life. Devout worship of this sacred form of Lord Ganesha bestows all kinds of worldly pleasures. In addition, the practice of Shakti Ganapati worship awakens the inner strength of the devotee.
Lord Shakti Ganapati is depicted in Chaturbhuja Rupa, i.e., with four arms. In the Tattvanidhi, He is described as having a Sindura Varna, i.e., vermilion complexion. In this form, Lord Ganapati is shown with His green-complexioned Shakti seated on His thigh. Lord Shakti Ganapati holds a garland of flowers, an Ankusha and a Pasha in three of His hands, while His fourth hand is in Abhaya Mudra, the gesture of fearlessness.
Shri Shakti Ganapati is another form of Lord Ganesha, and therefore His family is the same as that of Lord Ganesha. His father is Lord Shiva and His mother is Goddess Parvati. Lord Kartikeya is His brother and Ashoka Sundari is His sister.
