
Santana Lakshmi is one of the eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi among the Ashta Lakshmi manifestation. Goddess Santana Lakshmi is worshipped with the desire to be blessed with progeny. Goddess Lakshmi appears in various manifestations to fulfil the desires of Her devotees. Worshipping the pure form of Goddess Santana Lakshmi with devotion removes all obstacles on the path to obtaining progeny. Santana Lakshmi is also known as Ananta Lakshmi. In Her fifth manifestation as Ashta Lakshmi, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in the form of Goddess Santana Lakshmi. In Srimad Devi Bhagavata Purana, Goddess Skandamata is described as the fifth manifestation of Goddess Adishakti. Lord Kartikeya, in His child form, is shown seated on the lap of Goddess Skandamata. Goddess Santana Lakshmi resembles Goddess Skandamata in form and appearance. Therefore, they both are regarded as the same manifestation of the Goddess. The worship of Goddess Santana Lakshmi removes obstacles from the path of attaining children.
According to Skanda Purana, Goddess Santana Lakshmi is depicted in Shatbhuja Rupa, i.e., six-armed form. She carries two Kalasha, a sword and a shield in Her four hands, while Her fifth hand is raised in Abhaya Mudra, i.e., fear-dispelling gesture and with Her sixth hand She holds the child seated on Her lap.
