In the weekday fasting, the Budhavara Vrat is also considered highly important. By properly observing the Budhavara Vrat, defects related to the Budha Graha in the Kundali are removed and auspicious results are obtained. Through the influence of this Vrat, Lakshmi (wealth), Dhriti (steadfastness), Tushti (contentment), Pushti (nourishment), and Kanti (radiance) are attained.

Budhavara Vrat should be undertaken on a Budhavara, i.e., Wednesday that coincides with Vishakha Nakshatra. From that day, the Vrat should be observed for seven consecutive Wednesdays. By the effect of this Vrat, many devotees have fulfilled their wishes. Budhavara Vrat is described in several texts such as Bhavishyottara Purana and Vrataraja.
In the Budhavara Vrat, Nakta Vrat is observed. In Nakta Vrat, food is consumed only once after sunset. Gudodana (गुड़ोदन), that is, a preparation of jaggery, curd, and rice, is considered the best Naivedya, the same is offered to Brahmins, and consuming Gudodana is also considered auspicious.
First, on the Budhavara that coincides with Vishakha Nakshatra, one should take the Sankalpa to observe the Vrat. While reciting the Tithi, month, Paksha, place, name, and Gotra, say - "For the pleasure of Lord Budha Deva and for the attainment of Lakshmi, Dhriti, Tushti, Pushti, and Kanti, I will observe this Vrat for seven Wednesdays and, as part of it, perform the worship of Budha Deva."
Thus, the brief method of the Puja is completed.
Invite an Acharya for the Udyapana. Install a gold idol of Lord Budha in a bronze vessel. Thereafter, offer two white garments, a white garland, and Shweta Anulepana, i.e., white unguent or anointing substance. Feed a Brahmin with Gudodana (गुड़ोदन), that is, jaggery, curd, and rice.
Then pray to Lord Budha with the following Mantra -
बुध त्वं बुद्धिजनको बोधदः सर्वदा नृणाम्।
तत्त्वावबोधं कुरुषे सोमपुत्र नमो नमः॥
Budha Tvam Buddhijanako Bodhadah Sarvada Nrinam।
Tattvavabodham Kurushe Somaputra Namo Namah॥
Thereafter, perform Homa using Ghee, sesame seeds, and Payasa, i.e., kheer with the Udbudhyasva Mantra associated with Budha. Use 108 or 28 sticks of Apamarga wood. The Havana should be performed with honey, Ghee, curd, and clarified butter. Based on Bhavishyottara Purana and Vrataraja, this is the prescribed method for Budha Shanti.
By the effect of this Vrat, the afflictions of the planet Budha are removed. If there is any defect related to Budha in the Kundali, one should perform rituals for the pacification and strengthening of Budha. Havan should be performed with the Vedic Mantra Om Udbudhyasva Agne (ॐ उद्बुध्यास्वाग्ने).
Thus, the Udyapana Vidhi of the Budhavara Vrat is completed.
