Indrani Matrika is one of the seven divine mothers revered as Sapta Matrika in Hinduism. Goddess Indrani is also known as Aindri, Vajri, Mahendri, Pulomaja and Paulomi. Goddess Indrani is the divine feminine power of the King of Gods, Devaraja Indra. Her form and appearance resemble that of Indra. She dons similar garments as Indra. Indrani resides in Indra Loka. The worship of Goddess Indrani destroys all enemies.
According to the Varaha Purana, each Matrika is associated with a specific emotion and Indrani is described as representing Irshya, i.e. jealousy. Worshipping Goddess Indrani also blesses Her devotees with blissful married life.

According to Devi Mahatmya, Shumbha, along with his army of ferocious demons, attacked Goddess Chandika. When demon army besieged the Goddess, at that very moment, feminine divine powers manifested from the bodies of Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Devaraja Indra, Kartikeya and other deities, to massacre the demons. Brahmani emerged from the body of Brahma, Vaishnavi from Vishnu and Maheshvari from Shiva. Similarly, Indrani Matrika manifested from the body of Indra. To help Goddess Chandika annihilate the demons, Indrani appeared on the battlefield, seated on an elephant and defeated the demons in a fierce battle.
Goddess Indrani is depicted with dark complexion while seated on an elephant. She dons beautiful red garments. She is described as having Chaturbhuja Rupa, i.e., four arms. Goddess Indrani carries a Vajra, i.e., thunderbolt and Ankusha, i.e., goad in Her two hands while Her two other hands are raised in Varada Mudra and Abhaya Mudra.
